Dietitians Australia 2022 Conference

Be Bold

14-16 August 2022, Adelaide

Dear Colleagues

On behalf of the Scientific and Social Program Committee (SSPC), it is my pleasure to invite you to come and meet with us on Kaurna Land in Adelaide for the 2022 Dietitians Australia Conference. After two successful virtual conferences in 2020 and 2021, we look forward to seeing you here, for the first opportunity to gather face-to-face at a Dietitians Australia conference since 2019. The SSPC is planning a hybrid event, offering virtual options for those unable to travel and maximising face-to-face connection in both the social and scientific programs for those coming to Adelaide.

We are developing an exciting scientific program for you that captures the conference themes of Be Bold: nurture, extend and emerge. These themes will encourage us to explore how we can ask bold questions and be bold in our practice. In order to do this, we must nurture ourselves and those around us, extend on what we know and how we work and then emerge out the other side with a new way of knowing, being or working. We will have a diverse range of esteemed local and international speakers to explore these themes, including Dr Jennifer Brady from Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Dr Brady will explore critical perspectives and how they can extend our practice.

Three other factors will make this conference unique. First, an Emerging Dietitian stream on Day 1, which is being specifically designed by our Emerging Dietitians Sub-Committee. Second, a focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander speakers and knowledges in all plenary sessions, demonstrating a commitment to including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives. Third, a large focus on content for rural and remote dietitians. We are committed to maximising the relevance of the conference in these areas and we are sure that attendees will not be disappointed.

The scientific program will be complemented by a sensational social program with a conference dinner hosted at an iconic Adelaide venue. Given the virtual conferences of the past two years, this will provide a wonderful opportunity to reconnect in person with colleagues and catch up over the best food that South Australia has to offer.

And while you are here in the third most liveable city in the world, why not visit some of the fabulous places in the city including the Adelaide Central Markets, Adelaide Oval, art galleries and museums, and metropolitan beaches. Then experience the coastal and world-class wine regions such as the Clare and Barossa Valleys in a day trip.

We hope to see you all in Adelaide in 2022, where we will come together to Be Bold.

Annabelle Wilson
Scientific and Social Program Committee Chair 2022

Why attend

The Dietitians Australia Conference welcomes dietitians, nutritionists and nutrition scientists from across Australia and overseas each year to learn and network together.

The scientific program will bring together a range of expert speakers and panels to present the latest research, case studies and practices centred around the conference theme of “Be bold”. The program will incorporate the key academic themes of nurture, extend, and emerge.

The Dietitians Australia 2022 Conference will be held at the Adelaide Convention Centre. The Centre is conveniently located at the heart of the City. To the North, the centre overlooks the River Torrens and surrounding parklands, while to the South, the centre sits on North Terrace, one of four major terraces that bind Adelaide’s City Centre.

The Adelaide Riverbank Precinct is a hive of activity and where the city’s cultural, sporting, education, medical, conference and entertainment zones merge.
